REFLECTOR: Suprise in my duct

Sounds like an interesting and an "okay" idea from a structural point of
view. Lots of extra work, of course - but that's "half the fun" of
homebuilding! The extra time and materials is the only drawback.
Advantages = extra space in the ducts. The conduit cross section is enough
to do the job - albeit the space is pretty full when done. Note: these
kinds of operations often use extra BID and Epoxy which is not calculated
into the standard kit. While this one deviation from the recommended plans
may not cause a builder to run short, doing so a number of times may trigger
a phone call to order more material(s).
