REFLECTOR: Main Gear Access Dimensions

XLRG- I have an access cover foreword of the stick only, all other holes are
through the sides (web) of the keel
I am sure that the fuselage will still be structurally sound, since the
overall design of the aircraft is so strong, but based on statics and
composites beam design, it is not a good idea to remove this area without
adding reinforcement to carry the load across the opening, and to prevent
flexing of the keel sides.

what ever... Alex is your plane a fixed or RG?

Speaking from the point of view of an RG owner I know what it is, have
worked in that hole many an hour... Wishing the hole was bigger!!!

My plane is a standard RG, maybe the XL has two large access areas, one
forward and one rearward of the control stick. My standard RG has one
large one just like the picture and it is for the nose gear actuator
mechanism... You access the speed brake and the forward end of the main
gear actuator through the control stick access cover, a much smaller
hole and has no stiffener in the middle like the one in the picture.
