I'd like some opinions on CHTs. I want to install blowers in my armpit scoops to
provide cooling during taxi. I mounted one and went flying to see how much it
affected cooling during cruise when the blower is not running. The front and middle
cylinders (#s 2, 4) ran 10 C / 20 F above normal and the back cylinder (# 6) ran 20 C
/ 40 F higher. My cruise temps are normally 110-130 C / 230-266 F. My manual lists
the CHT operating limit as 199 C / 390 F, so it appears that increasing the CHT should
not be a problem. Is there an "ideal" CHT, or is lower always better?

John
