REFLECTOR: AP servo drag

I have the TruTrak auto pilot which has stepping motor servo with no clutch.
The servo puts quite a bit of drag on the controls. Seems to me this is an
issue, and nullifies one of the handling features of the Velocity that at
pattern speeds letting go of the stick the plane should go to straight and
level. What is the experience with this, or am I imagining a problem.

When I first installed the aileron control cables I was pleased that there
was close to zero resistance to movement. Only problem was the cables had
been made too short. Velocity was kind enough to replace these, but with
the newer, heavier duty, higher temp cables. Putting these in added
considerably to the drag. Now adding this servo puts on more drag which
leads me to believe there is no way the controls will return to neutral
without force.
