REFLECTOR: Putting additional outlets on the Down Draft Runners

Hello Scott -
Scott Swing is helping a Velocity builder install a TSIO-550 in a Velocity
XL (details and updates appear from time to time on the Velocity web site) -
this engine features twin inter-coolers. They are planning to cool the
entire engine (inter-coolers and cylinders) using air from the roof-top
NACAs. The factory does not have any scientific values relating to how much
air and pressure is introduced through the NACAs. Based on field
experience, we see that it is "just enough" for Lycomings and "plenty" for
Continentals. VG's are often added to encourage the air to enter the
NACA's. The turbo charged installation is new to us - we do not know if the
NACAs will provide adequate cooling at altitude.
