Dave,

I would have expected a higher static considering your cruise speed at 2700 
rpm.

I'm certainly no fixed pitch prop expert but I think the only way to get 
more speed on the top end is to go a higher pitch, which will sacrifice 
some of your take off performance.   It does seem you could add a few 
hundred feet to your take off without too much of a compromise in take off 
ability.

Do you have a high altitude airport you could try at gross weight to see 
how this prop performs under worst case conditions before changing  to a 
higher pitch?  Like South Lake Tahoe on a warm day?

BTW,    You know Chuck Wahl at LVK, he just finished restoring his T28 last 
year?
