REFLECTOR: RE: Captive cowl fasteners

As I said, I'm not completely finished.
The cowl-to-wing attachments have not been made, and I won't get around to
doing that until I move out to the hangar.

We recently primered the fuselage, and removed the fasteners, so no pics for
now.

But to answer what I think you are asking; yes the same fasteners should
work on the cowl to wing. Since these are adjustable, I think the maximum
thickness (two fiberglass layers) is about a quarter inch.

The fasteners are very flexible in the thicknesses this combination can
handle. Their product line is confusing, but it makes sense after a while.
If it turns out you need a different stud (material too thick for fastener),
Skybolt will let you return it for a dash 3 stud, but a dash 3 would really
handle some thick stuff. I don't think you'll ever find a need for a dash
3.

Thanks for the info Brian. Are these same fasteners used between cowls
and wings, and cowl half to cowl half?

    Sorry for the delay.

I have mine installed, and am using the following parts:

    Stud: sk40s5-2s
    Grommet: sk-0s
    receptacle: sk245-4
    snap ring: skr4g

It's about $10 per fastener. Not cheap, but I like them.

Brian, Have you posted subject pics yet? I can't find them.
Also, have you the source and part numbers?

      Thanks, Gordon
