One word - KISS.

Air speed switches are fine and recommended for things like keeping =
folks from retracting the gear while on the ground, but a single DPDT =
toggle switch with center off will handle the Solid-OFF-Flash landing =
light function.=20

But to each his/her own!!!

Have a great Holiday Weekend folks!!!!
Ronnie

Okay all you gadgeteers, here's one we all need. The landing light is =
good for identification in the pattern and on final, but we all know =
that wig-wags are much easier to spot--the whole object of the =
identifier lights, no? So who's going to come up with a circuit that =
has the landing light on alternating flash while in the pattern, then =
goes to solid "on" when airspeed drops below, say 85kts. We would get =
the benefit of the flashing light during final, yet would have the solid =
light for landing at night. Seems like a circuit similar to the gear =
warning for RGs would be a start and a lot of GPS can put out a signal =
when airspeed drops to a certain point. =20

I'm shocked and amazed Ronnie doesn't have this on his plane already!

  Chuck

  Steve,
I have used the same flasher, but I could not ( and the company could =
not) figure out how to run the lights as always on or alternating flash =
without using 2 different single throw switches and 2 relays- since the =
original design was to use with an existing headlight switch - could =
you give me a schematic on how you have it done with a single dual throw =
switch? I would like to save the space on my overhead panel.......

  Thanks

  Alex

Here is the one I used. From JC Whitney

http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?product=
Id=3D86&catalogId=3D10101&langId=3D-1&storeId=3D10101     =20

Very easy to install. I used a dual throw switch and 2 inexpensive =
30A relays from Radio shack. This way one direction and the lights =
don't flash the other they do.
