Be careful ....Don't file that notch too much or you will loose the over 
center lock ability to hold...

Is it the main spring or is it the latch bar binding? In my case it was the 
latch bar binding enough that it would not quite seat properly.
A little filing in the notch and a lot of WD-40 cured the problem.
