I believe the problem with that crash was that the pilot did not give the
fly by wire system enough time to spool up the engines- he was used to
flying a 74 if I remember correctly, and when you push the throttles
foreword in that aircraft, the engines spool up immediately, on the airbus
the computer checks all of the parameters first, then asks you if you are
sure you want full power, ect... and the plane just didn't have time to gain
thrust- it happened at farnborough I think about 10 years ago or so.

Nope ....but that curiousity of mine is now roused again (....Aussies are
