The Odyssey PC680 motorcycle batteries (16 amp-hour) are very good, but =
you can get better price-performance by using a Sealed Lead Acid battery =
that's sold for a broader range of applications. For an example in a =
"store brand", see http://www.batterymart.com/battery.mv?p=3DSLA-12V18. =
That's an 18 amp-hr SLA battery for $30. The Panasonic 17 amp-hour SLA =
batteries are also generally widely available at good prices. All of =
the battery manufacturers have their specifications on-line, so you can =
pick one with the capacity, dimensions, and post style that fits your =
needs. Do a little searching and you can get a great deal.
If you consider your application to be extra "critical", just change the =
battery more often. If using dual batteries, replace one of them at =
each annual and your chances of suffering a battery failure reduce to =
"nil". All of the SLA batteries are so much more reliable than the old =
"wet cell" batteries that there's no reason not to consider =
"non-traditional" brands.
