I have a difficulty with this statement since we are talking about =
fences that are placed on the trailing edge starting at 12 inches fore =
of the trailing edge. If what you are saying is correct it would seem =
that the most logical location for a fence to direct the wind would be a =
fence in the leading edge as in some jets.

No. They are installed directly into the prevailing wind. The problem =
is that this wing is a swept wing and as a result wind hitting the =
leading edge has a tendancy to flow over the wind in a span wise flow. =
In other words it doesn't always go directly over the wing it migrates =
span wise towards the the wing tip. The trailing edge fence will hold =
the airflow more directly over the wing.=20
I'm not the expert. I'm repeating what I heard from Klaus Savier as to =
the reasoning but, the correct answer is "pointed directly into the =
wind.
