This is true.  I do not understand how some companies are getting away with
not providing thermocouple extension wire.  It's really not *that* expensive
to provide the correct extension wire.

  You must use the same wire as the original leads are made from.  If you
don't you will create a new and different thermocouple that will cause big
time errors.

extend the leads on CHT and EGT probes?  Or is it necessary to use the
high-priced leads that the instrument makers sell?
