REFLECTOR: Yoke vs. Stick

What about leaving the current design mostly intact, but taking the control
stick out and replacing it with servos? You could create a "fly-by-wire"
system that would then be easy to wire up to separate joysticks mounted
anywhere you liked.

Do people actually read these posting??  Or is it a comprehension thing...

I never said I wanted to switch to a yoke,  In fact I said quite the
opposite..

Sure "You should" have the next freq tuned in ready to go,  ever been given 
a different freq than you thought you would?  I have.  Ever been real busy 
and just didn't get to that yet? I have.

Even if you do have it tuned it, you still have to reach across your body 
or let go of the stick to switch freqs..  And that's a bad movement.

All these ideas about mounting radios all over hell and gone,  5 million 
switches on the stick to do everything but wash the dishes...  They are all 
trying to work around a BAD design.  I'm not trashing the plane either, I 
like it a lot!  The only reason Maher came up with this design, that I can 
think of, is that it was "easy" to design and build...  And that's not 
always the best way for operational considerations.

Sitting in the left seat, anybody trained in ergonomics or any of the 
related fields would agree that because 90% of the things you have to do on 
the panel, switches, knobs etc... are easier to reach/grasp/pull/push with 
your right hand, it should be the hand to do it.  With the sick in your 
right hand you have crippled your self.

I really can't imagine why anybody would think a center stick is 
easier(meaning safer) to operate than a side stick?
