REFLECTOR: Aileron Size

"that someone" was Alan Shaw who made fast build wings, ailerons, canards,
and elevators, some years ago. There were a number of things that were not
according to "the plans". According to the plans you are suppose to put the
lower winglet back on after attaching the winglet to wing with all the
layers (4 x 7) of "UNI".
He was real carefull about one thing and that was the cuffs. Later we were
told to cut off the cuffs and put on the lower winglets on.

I apologize for my ignorance on engineering matters, but I read that 
someone had increased the aileron size from the one recommended in the 
plans with "good" results.  Unfortunately, I erased the actual 
message.   I understand the Velocity's response is already rather crisp 
to aileron deflection.  Can someone explain the benefits, or purpose, of 
doing this?  Thanks
