REFLECTOR: Performance challenge, Chap. 2

For those not at the Velocity thing at OSH, the Deltahawk on the
Velocity had a temp crank from an interim supplier. There was a defect
in the manufacture of the crank and it failed during a test just before
OSH. A welded counterweight came loose/off and nearly ate through the
case. The engine was still running with a cup and a half of shavings in
the oil filter and sump. There isn't a problem with the design, just
with the part. They are not using that manufacturer for the production
cranks.

JP, NO CROW being served from this group. When you get it back up to
snuff and flying, we'll be waiting for the challenge.

FYI,

Andy

Gentlemen,

Let's see, how does one eat a 900 lb Crow?.......
One bite at a time?

1st bite,..... Thanks to those we got to meet with at OSH, The Swings,
Scott, missed Nathan..... (that one was easy)...

2nd bite.... We are in ongoing testing and have experienced very good
results. I'll let Doug and Diane speak for the company, but, as for me,
I
must take your blows and suffer the slings and arrows of misfortune in
being unable to get 211JP in time for the promised (and soon to be
missed)
Sept. 1st said time frame. (okay guys..... let the emails fly! I got
my
ego Kevlar body armor on every time I step up to my computer. (I'm
still
chewing on that bite like an old piece of untenderized horse meet!)

bite 3.... whence I do get Doug to give me "The Bird" (no not the middle

appendage) I will post rational haste and make my first priority to be
there in New Mexico for the salvage operation which will be to find my
credibility somewhere off the end of the runway at very hot, high
density,
no wind airspace in which I will find my smiling face again. (Okay,
still
got the body armour on... let go with another volley!).........

(bite 4 and still chewing)...... I know this company and it's
people. Anyone who has seen us, met us, heard us, know that it is
usually
me, JP, who sez something and THEN engages brain.....
I hope my boasting and pride is just that .... mine. I ask you not
direct
any of the well deserved arrows at DeltaHawk but at me, since my mouth
is
the culprit........(he said with humble regard)

I know Diane and Doug will read this and they know I say things without
filter from them. Again, this is the fighter pilot ego engaging prior
to
the self-destruct mode goes into final countdown....

.....yes, lesson learned,..... once more and when I do get the chance to

come out to New Mexico there will be a "Notamus Maximus" put out that
the
Bird is enroute. All will get a shot at me on the way and I'll have the

Clocking Device fully engaged till then.

It is with humility that I be a member of this forum. It is with equal
humility that I know I look up to all of you who are building, planning,

engineering, and endeavoring to get to the point of First Flight.
Believe
me when I say that FF of 211JP was an event. I was unfortunately, or
fortunately, depending on your perspective, unable to be there on May
3rd
of last year to see 211JP take flight. For those of you who do know me
my
daughters christening in Escondido, California was scheduled for that
day
long before. Diane and Doug we willing to postpone the flight till I
could
be there. I believed it was an event that was not defined by a single
individual but by a collective effort. We all shared in the elation
regardless where we were in the world.

So, with all this said, I ask humbly your indulgence and patience as we
accomplish more testing toward the end result of going forward toward
certification and beyond.

I will gladly accept, without anger, any comments you may freely air
here. Now, anybody got any salsa?... these feather get caught in my
throat pretty easily!
