REFLECTOR:Jeffco and strakes

Milt,

I think John is way ahead of you. It appears that he has already done that
"mushrooming" step against a wet tape on duct tape on the underside of the
strake lid. After all that set up, he then removed the strake top, cleaned
up the "mushroom head" and added nice smooth tapes at the joint. Therefore,
he has nice flanges on the baffles with a perfect fit to the strake lid.
With reasonable care in the application of the Jeffco seal coats, he is
almost guaranteed NOT to have a leak when the lid goes on for good.

I used the same general technique, and my strakes pressure-tested great.
While I'm not yet at the flying stage, I will be genuinely shocked if I have
a leak.

Keith Hallsten, XLFG
