I have the alternating/pulsing lights near the tips of the canard and =
have
received comments from other pilots that the flashing lights were =
really
noticeable. On Dec. 21, one CT called on the radio after I landed and =
was
started to taxi and said that plane looks like a Christmas tree. So, =
"cool"
is nice, but the real advantage is to be-seen. For taxiing purposes, =
they
are NGTG (not good to go), but at least Tower will be able to see you =
when
you go in the ditch at night. No noticeable drain on battery.

I tried the canard landing lights in the canard. Allen Shaw did them =
with
the canard. The look cool but dont do any good for light. Allen =
replaced
the lights at no charge to me, but still ineffective as a light. The =
other
thing was the lens. Could not keep it from burning from the heat of =
the
light. It is also one heck-of-a drain on the electrical system, which =
is
already strained if you are using the alternator from Velocity. I =
finally
took my lights out of the canard and glassed over the hole. No =
regrets.
