REFLECTOR:Jeffco and strakes

Scott,
 I was talking about if you build the strakes/baffles with structural, then
coat with structural for the 1st coat, it is difficult to reach some areas
of the finished strake inside corners (at least it was with my RG) so there
would be some areas that have shiny structural, that you would then need to
coat with Jeffco, and I didn't want to have any Jeffco chips floating around
in there- but since I didn't get a hearty approval from the Jeffco folks,
about adhesion over what they considered "unknown" epoxy. I decided to go
"all Jeffco" in the tanks- (they claim that Jeffco will stick to Jeffco
fairly well even if it is not sanded) the Jeffco is pretty sticky though, so
like I said it probably would not be a problem either way. One good thing is
that the work proceeds rather fast using the stuff. the disadvantage is that
it is much less viscous than the structural, so I needed to add some cabo to
improve the properties of the micro that I used in the fillets.

Hello Alex,
The part itself is made from structural epoxy, so applying the first fuel
seal coat using structural epoxy isn't going to be a problem.  As Fred M.
said however, be sure to scratch the first coat to receive the Jeffco.
