Hmmm, I'm surprised you could find one that cheap.

As far as the AD598/698 is concerned, it looks like it has a very small
parts count.  Should only take you a couple of months to get it right.

I am not aware of any other/cheaper sources.

Would you know where I could find an electric gyro with outputs?
