Don't be overly worried about the door. Velocity's intent was to tell you that
you need a reasonably large flat table AND to suggest an easy way to get such
a table. Hollow-core doors are flat on both sides. In truth any hollow-core
door from Home Depot or Lowes would do fine. But I prefer a table constructed
from a 4'x8' piece of 3/4" plywood. 

Bottom line: You need a table...
