Keith take that dummy engine!! I purchased an automotive
engine stand for about $25 and then made a dummy engine
bulkhead out of two pieces of 3/4" plywood glued together
and mounted it on the stand with angle iron braces on the
back side. You then exactly locate your motor mount on the
dummy bulkhead and mount the engine on the mount.

Now you can locate and mount all of the bulkhead
accessories, get wire measurements mount wire clamps and
the best part is you can rotate the engine around its crank
axis so it is easy to work on. You now transfer all of the
mounting locations to the real bulkhead knowing everything
is properly located. Then you can mount your real engine
and connect all the wiring and plumbing and transfer the
engine, mount and attached accessories directly to the
plane.
