Ron,

I just searched around on the web and found most of what I needed, mainly
from OEM (UPSAT, RC Allen, etc.) and retail sites (Spruce, Chief, etc.).
Some flight simulator sites also have instrument photos. Next I used an
image editor to resize them to the correct size and print them out.

I also took a photo of the actual bare panel with a digital camera, and used
Visio to create a virtual panel that I could drag the instruments around on.

Both methods have their advantages. The labels on the actual panel are
great for trying out the ergonomics. The Visio drawing is very easy to
manipulate, and lets you create different versions that can be printed for
comparison. If you have flight simulator software, you may want to
experiment with creating a sim of your panel and actually flying it! I have
messed around with this in FS2004.

I uploaded some of the images I used to my website at
http://home.tampabay.rr.com/gbabcock. Look for the "Instrument photos"
link. Also, click on the "Getting the engine and misc. progress" link to
see a picture of the panel with labels in the plane.
