Bob,

This was an old post of yours (well, not too old) and you commented on
putting the push-pull knob for your fuel shutoff in a recessed area. I've
seen a recessed area situated in the keel near/behind the pilots leg that I
think was used for the manual gear dump to keep it out of the way.

I wanted to put a recess(ment) in that location and have a push-pull on the
forward side for the parking brake and a push/pull on the backside for the
fuel shutoff control. Does anyone know of any source of a source for a
nice, clean looking "recess" that can be inserted into the keel that is
approx. 4" x 2" x 1.5" deep, or thereabouts. Or do people simply glass
something up? The one I saw in some photo certainly looked like it was a
commercially molded plastic part. Ideas?

Some months ago a few of us building at the factory service center opted to
have the fuel cutoff. Nate was first as I recall. We placed a recess in the
keel below the stick on the pilot side for the knob and installed the cut
off just forward of the firewall beside the sump on the XL's we were
building.

I use it to cut off the fuel when I am cleaning the fuel filter and such
times, but could pull it off in flight if I needed to.
