Kurt,

Before I go there, I'm going to explore avenues for getting my current one
repaired. Kollsman, the original manufacturer says they don't repair them
anymore. When asked how long ago that they stopped repair work, they
replied "about 25 years ago." They suggested Rosemount Instruments in MN.
When I talked to them, they said they didn't work on them but thought
BFGoodrich, in MN might because they manufacture them now. I called them
and they weren't sure if the did or didn't, might or might not, might have
spare parts, but might not...and so on. They did confirm the shaft is
brazed into the housing.

I'm going to "unbraze" the pitot to see what I have. BFGoodrich said they
would at least look at the guts and see if they had anything useful that
would fit, or could be made to fit. So, I'm not sure where, or how, I'll
end up but I'm still shooting to salvage the pitot with a low heat, low draw
solution. Failing that, then I'll be shopping.

As an aside, is your pitot manufacturing company a small outfit that will
look at "special" situations? They may have a solution, adapted from
something else, that would work just fine. If you have any info from them,
I'd be appreciative.

Chuck.

Like I said in my previous post, the manufacturers of my "straight out"
pitot says they can make one like that if you need it.
