And I have had one Lycoming O320-H2AD (you know the one that is supposed to
be notoriously lousy in 1977 172N's) to go to 2030 hours and we are on our
second one, a factory reman O320 H2AD that now has 1700 hours on it.  The
first one had to have the T mods early in its run, but neither engine has
had any cylinder problems.  The mags have to be rebuilt every 500 hours but
that is the extent of it.

I had planned to put a Chevy V6 or V8 on my Velocity but after watching Tim
England's video on his V6 powered Velocity, I'm glad I chickened out and
just put a IO360 on my 173 Elite RG.

And after checking the recent pretty high prices on Crossflow Subaru's I'm
not sure how much value there is with these, especially with the little
existing track record for these.

The big problem that I have seen with the auto engines (and they ARE durable
as demonstrated in boats - especially boats that are used regularly), is the
dearth of redrives available for them.  The best one going right now for the
Chevy's seem to be the Gates belts.
