REFLECTOR:540 engines

Brett,

The standard Velocity recommendation for the XL has always been the "D"
model, because it is significantly lighter than the "K".  Of course, several
builders have gone with the heavier engine.  Actually, if you really think
you need more power (not really), there are reasonable ways to push the "D"
without adding the weight of the "K".  The first among these is porting and
flow-balancing the heads, which just helps the breathing and reduces
inefficiency.  It's also feasible to increase the compression ratio,
although I did not elect to do that with my engine.
