My caps leaked too. =20

Coat the large rubber O rings with Vaseline and take the center nut off, =
and coat that little O ring too.  You will need to do this to minimize =
future flying leak problems anyway - and keeping rain out too.  I had to =
tighten the center nut to get a good seal.

your strakes (I used a vacuum) replace the fuel cap with a plumbers plug =
from Home Depot.  As I recall several people had a problem of leaking =
