REFLECTOR: Insurance Requirment

I hate to raise this old subject but for those of you that are
interested, I thought I should report on my recent conversation with
AVEMCO.

I called to ask what are the current requirements for coverage on a
Velocity XL RG in that I expect to be complete in about 16 months. Their
response was that the current requirement is 500 hours total time with
50 hours in high performance, retractable, complex and a factory
training program of 10 hours.

I stated that it is my expectation to have 250 hours total time with 150
in high performance, retractable, complex and the 10 hour factory
program. His response was that this may be acceptable in that the
conditions are somewhat negotiable and seem to be changing with time.
Also, he was aware that other carriers have less restrictive standards
but probably a higher premium.

His closing comment was to get as much time as possible in high
performance, retractable, complex and actual time in a Velocity and then
negotiate with AVEMCO or another agency or broker.

Anyone have any recent experience with negotiations?
