   I wanted to be able to check the nose area during each preflight and it's
hard to concentrate when you're twisted around trying to peer up in. My
access hatch is hinged on the forward edge using a design derived from the
NG door hinges. The opening is larger than standard but not RBH. The pivot
point is about 1" forward of the opening and the hinge arms are constructed
so that the door will tilt away from the opening and not fall back. The rear
is secured by a flush Hartwell latch. There's a lip on the forward edge and
in the rear corners to locate and support the door.  -Bill
