You can make "QA" coupons as you build and test them to distruction 
later.  (This is how it is done in industry).  Thes samples would 
represent the actual conditions of the particular layup.

I think it is advisable to clean any surface prior to applying 
glass/resin on top of it.  I use 100% alcohol to remove oil/etc, some 
recommend MEK.
