Alan do you know why was the down draft system started with the Franklin
engine?

I would have to agree with you that it would seem better to have the cooler
mounted in the wing TE.  How would you go about making that kind of a
modification after the plane is completed?   Wouldn't the air scoop under the
wing that was sold as an additional cooler work if there was room to install
the cooler in the engine compartment?   Mine would not fit in the wing root
and allow room for the rudder cable.
