Nothing wrong with that. One reason we use plywood is that the diferent plys have the grain running in roughly orthoganal directions. And do you suppose that anyone analyzed which direction is preferable for the outside ply? Uh - uh. Besides, the wood is the core; most of the strength is in the triax.
