Well, yes and no. As you add thickness, the fins to the rear see 
the warmed air from the fins near the front, so they can't reject as 
much heat. (Lower deltaT) So a two square foot radiator, two 
inches thick is more effective than a one square foot radiator, four 
inches thick.
