A properly rigged Velocity with factory trained pilot should be able to handle
cross winds safety that are almost double what other aircraft in this weight
range can handle.
The Santa Ana winds blow over the trees at 50kts on to the old river bed they
call the Corona airport. The STD Velocity does that one. I don't recommend it
but it can also be landed with your feet flat on the floor in a 30kt cross wind.
It is a different airplane, but more, not less capable than others in crosswinds.
