Re:Restricted hours

N19DW XL/RG
Yesterday I received my FAA inspection, with no problems, 40 hours test
period and a 50 Nautical Mile diameter circle test area over Florida
everglades. Expect 40 hours unless you have a CERTIFIED ENGINE-PROP
combination. I have MT Prop, certified on aerobatic planes and certified
IO-540 Lycoming, but not in combination so they would not give me 25 hours.
My inspector had no problem with me going into uncontrolled airports
outside test area as long as I AVOID DENSELY POPULATED RESIDENCIAL AREAS.
In the past here in Florida DAR's and FAA have given up to 200 mile test
areas, SO REQUEST MAXIMUM AREA YOU WANT, AVOIDING CONTROLLED AIRSPACE AND
DENSE POPULATIONS. Inspector will revise it down if they don't like it. Our
argument is we are testing near 200mph aircraft and need a large area.
SUGGESTION; Record and say your maximum cruise speed is UNDER 180 Knots,
otherwise per regulations you will be required to have 12" N's instead of
3".

Today or tomorrow, Jean Prudhomme expects to pilot the first flight in my
plane.
TODAY WOULD BE EXACTLY 6 MONTHS AND 6 DAYS SINCE WE RECEIVED MY KIT. Jean
and I will have many suggested small improvements for you builders. Two
main changes are the Really Big Hatch and adding lower winglets(strongly
recommended.) Hours of labor were near our original estimate, calendar
delay was due to us both taking almost 3 weeks off during our 7 day a week
construction.
GONE FLYING, will report in soon.
