Maybe I'm missing something, but my plane old lycoming IO-360 cost 
$15,000 for 200 HP, starts like a champ, runs forever, is practically 
bulletproof, has a long history, plenty of parts out there, etc.  Despite 
everyone's fears, these old piston engines are pretty darn reliable when 
taken care of properly.

Now a 600 HP rotary engine that weighs the same, that would be something 
to look at!!
