Jim, 

I certainly hope that you are not going to rely on that red light to
assure yourself that you are radiating a good RF signal! While it may
perform the function that you describe, it certainly was not designed for
that use.

It would be like assuming the gear is up because the Hydraulic pump run
light went out.
