This report from AVflash:

DRUG CARRYING PILOT CRASHES TRYING TO ELUDE CUSTOMS
Detroit investigators are checking out rumors that residents scooped up
bags of pot, and possibly cash, while ignoring a pilot who lay dying.
Two women in the Detroit, Mich., neighborhood heard the plane crash into
a school playground, saw the pilot alive in the wreckage, then witnessed
the pot thefts. Investigators think the flight originated south of the
border, but they aren't sure if the 408 pounds of smokeable merchandise
inside was bound for the U.S. or Canada. Customs began trailing the
homebuilt aircraft near El Paso, Tex., and followed it until pilot
Douglas Dufresne, 66, of Indialantic, Florida, ran out of gas, some 1500
miles later.
